30th - 31st October
The 27th WSBI World Congress has concluded, marking not only a century of the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) but also the celebration of World Savings Day. Under the theme “100 Years Forward Together: Shaping the Future of Responsible Banking,” this landmark event united leaders from across the globe to reflect on our shared journey and envision a more inclusive future.
With over 400 million people benefiting from WSBI’s financial education initiatives in 2023 alone, the commitment to financial inclusion was front and center. Our discussions highlighted the pressing need for innovative solutions to bridge the $3 trillion financing gap and promote sustainable practices.
Keynotes and panels emphasized the transformative role of digitalization in expanding access to financial services, particularly for underserved communities. Leaders called for a collective effort to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our banking practices, ensuring that our approach to finance is holistic and responsible.
The presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Italian President Sergio Mattarella, reinforced the importance of savings as a foundation for future aspirations. His words resonated deeply, reminding us that savings are essential not just for individuals but for the stability and growth of our economies.
As we celebrate 100 years of WSBI and World Savings Day, we are reminded that our mission transcends mere finance; it is about nurturing communities and empowering lives. Together, we will continue to build a future where responsible banking is a reality for all. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this historic celebration. Let’s move forward, hand in hand, toward a brighter tomorrow!
